Meet the experienced and friendly doctor and staff who make Downey Eye Care a leading provider of vision care products and eye health services in Lincoln, AL.

Stephen C. Downey, OD

Dr. Downey is a native of Anniston, AL. He is the youngest child of Jim and Diane Downey.

Dr. Downey was an inaugural graduate of Faith Christian School in 1999 and He received a B. S. in Biology from Samford University in Birmingham in 2003 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from UAB School of Optometry in 2007.

Upon completion of his Alabama Optometry Board licensure, Dr. Downey returned to Calhoun County to begin practice in 2007. He has been a member of Vision Source, a premier network for private practice optometrists since opening the Lincoln office in 2008. The Alexandria location opened in 2010. He enjoys caring for all his patients, from infants to seniors.

Dr. Downey is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as the Alabama Optometric Association. He is an active member and past president of the local Northeast Alabama Optometric zone and the Alexandria Civitan Club, committed to raising funds for the special education department of Calhoun County.

Dr. Downey and his wife Ruth are active in church and community while caring for their two young boys.
